Play Your Note!

notesMuch like an orchestra or a choir, each of us has our own unique note to play/sing.

In a world that is obsessed with taking sides, competing for mindshare, besting each other, and sometimes working very hard to hush the voices of others, I believe it is important for us to remember that we each have a note to play.  There are crucially important things that you contribute to the world that no other person can.  Much like the aforementioned ensembles, each note comes together to create things of beauty that are impossible without each and every contributor.

I challenge each of us this week (and every day moving forward) to find our note.  Take the time necessary to identify that thing you do that makes you supremely unique.  I’m keeping this brief specifically so you can take 10 seconds to think about those people who have helped you become the person you are.  Just take a moment to quietly think about those people who have encouraged you, helped you, loved you, and wanted what was best for you in life.

When you’re done, I encourage you to spend three minutes appreciating THIS video of Fred Rogers accepting his Lifetime achievement Award in 1997.

I’d love to hear from you what you’ve identified as your unique note.  Feel free to share in the comments below.  Tomorrow Begins Today.
