Lift Them Up. We’ve talked before about the importance of lifting each other up and not tearing each other down. Taken literally, these three words, though, have more meaning than just paying each other compliments. If you lift someone up from the ground, you may be instrumental in creating a new beginning for that person. It may be a life-changing event for them and a simple act of kindness for you. If you take someone who seems to be doing just fine and magnify something they have accomplished, you could be a pivot point that creates a snowball of success for that person. After all, success does breed success. If you take someone whom you love in your life, and you lift them up every day and show and tell them how much you admire them and respect them, you are investing in some of the most intimate and rewarding relationships we hope to share in this life.
Make Them Feel Loved. My friend, Chris O’Hearn, often writes these outstanding quick words of encouragement to encourage people to see their potential and the beauty that is inside each of us. I really enjoy reading these when he posts them, because it reminds me that there is so much positive in the world, and I have a gift and obligation to add to that positivity. We all do, really. In a world where pressure cookers are converted to weapons, it seems a good counter measure to turn to the person beside you and say “I love you.” What a simple token of truth that puts a completely different face on a day. Thank you for the positive things you have to say about my writings. I love you for it.
The God in Heaven Loves Them. I like this one especially, because I was raised in a Southern Baptist church, and there was a lot of talk about God’s wrath and punishment on people back then. I can only assume that there is now, but I don’t go to that church any more. The truth, as I see it, is that God loves us. He wants us to enjoy the life he has given us. Heck, he went so far as to sacrifice his Son so we can! We sometimes work so hard to prove to each other that we love each other with gifts, dinners, vows, rings, and even back rubs! How can we compare that to God’s gift to us? He loves us. He’s passionate about us. He’s just THAT into us. He wants us to succeed. He wants us to have joy. He wants us to thrive. He wants us to love.
I hope we can all take that with us today and every day. We are lifted up. We are loved. We know that God in Heaven loves us. Tomorrow Begins Today.
